Marketing Shortcuts, Really?

Everyone looks for the fast and easy shortcut to marketing.

Reality, there are no marketing shortcuts, the same as there is no easy way to success.  Marketing efforts take time to cultivate and grow a business.  Most of all, you have to believe in yourself, your abilities to succeed and then to know you will succeed.

Zig Ziglar once said, “You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.”  This is a very powerful quote and if you really look at beneath the words to the meaning, you will see the true reality of what he meant.  Let’s apply this to marketing your business on a regular basis.  When marketing a business you need to prepare, basically have a strategy / road map, as to how you are going to go about it.  So many businesses just haphazardly, without direction throw hard earned money away with no effectiveness in their marketing.

In marketing a business, you need to think in terms of having a road map to success.  Let’s start with defining what is marketing, as most people don’t know the difference between marketing and advertising.  As for now, we are just focusing on marketing.  However, marketing is planning and implementation for bringing buyers and sellers together for a mutual exchange or transference of goods, products or services.  In order for that to happen, you need to have a plan in order to accomplish this goal.

The first item to start within your map to create your marketing plan / strategy is a budget.  This defines and sets limits.  Within those limitations you will need to look at effective avenues to maximize your budget and minimize your expenditures, so you can reach the potential customers for your business.  Marketing is an overall word we use to encompass everything a business does to facilitate sales or exchange of goods and services.

Are there any guarantees your marketing efforts will bring success, no.  That is the harsh reality.  However, if you have implemented a good road map to your marketing strategy, along with an effective budget and track your efforts, you can see what is working and what is not working.  This helps to alleviate unnecessary waste of spent marketing dollars.

As you can see there are no marketing shortcuts, but set goals, follow through, and most of all believe in yourself and your ability.  If you still are in a quandary as to properly market your business, then hire an agency to put you on the path with a marketing strategy that is within in the goals and guidelines of your company goals.

Happy marketing and much success!
